Things I want to remember...

• his contagious laugh
• the way he plays with my fingers when I carry him around
• him feeding me Cheerios in the grocery store
• his soft skin
• his crazy, but super soft hair
• the tug he gives at my pants, telling me he wants to be picked up
• his huge grin and beautiful dimples
• his adorable belly button
• those HUGE blue eyes
• his long eyelashes to match
• the three stray long white hairs on the back of his head... they fell out, but they made him unique
• how excited he is when I walk into his room for the first time in the mornings
• the first time he watched the dog run circles around him
• the first time I saw his face
• watching him be cleaned up across the delivery room
• waking up in the middle of the night, just to look at him
• how tiny his feet were
• how tiny he was
• the first cries

This may be weird to some, but these are just things I always want to remember. As life moves on, our family grows and grows up... I never want to forget these magical things.

Pink Eye, Ear Infections and a Cold... Oh My!

The title pretty much says it all, but Ben has been under the weather this week. Monday night he woke up screaming at 9:30 and I was up with him until 2:00am. He would get down and play, but as soon as I put him down in his bed I could tell he was miserable. He woke up Tuesday with forest green gunk all in his eyelashes and a yuckie nose! I took him to the pediatrician and he determined that Ben has a severe case of pink eye, ear infections in both ears and a cold. Ben has had antibiotics and eye drops since Tuesday morning and he seems to feel a lot better. His nose is still runny, but he is in much better spirits and is only waking once at night. Last night he woke up at 3:00 am, downed a cup of milk and went back to bed. I'm hoping he's on the upside! I am a terrible mother and I took pictures of him right before we went to the doctor's office. It makes me sad just to look at the picture.

On a lighter note, Benjamin is getting in to EVERYTHING! He pulls up on all our furniture and empties cabinents. Jason has been working on getting the cabinents locked, but our kiddo leaves no cabinent unopened, no laundery basket unemptied and nothing gets past him.

Checking out EVERYTHING under my bathroom sink. (Now remember, I worked in cosmetic dermatology before he was born and I have WAY TOO much product!)

This is typically how I find him after his naps, with one or no socks and his legs hanging through the crib slats.

The newest obsession.... (I was changing his diaper in the living room and didn't get his pants back on when the phone rang, I answered the phone and in no time... this is what he was up to!)

Kate minus Jon and the Eight

So I heard that Kate Gosselin was signing books at the local Barnes & Noble from 6-9pm tonight. I thought it was neat that she was going to be in town, but didn't give it a second thought.

Tonight Jason, Ben and I went to eat dinner and look around at Academy (as we do so frequently). Jason mentioned wanting to run over to Barnes & Noble, so I obliged.

We walked in to huge signs about Kate Gosselin being there for a book signing. Of course, my curiosity was sparked and I told Jason I just wanted to see what she looked like in person. So we find the line of excited onlookers, books in hand... and there is no Kate. She's no where to be seen. We walk on to Jason's section of interest (which happens to be right next to where Kate had been sitting and where many store personnel are standing). I hear quite a few people say, "She isn't coming!!" and even see some people in TEARS! I thought to myself, wow it's already 9:00? It was only 6:45.

Apparently Kate was only told that she was to sign at 6:00 and when the line died down she went to the back of the store (out of sight). When the line refilled... she REFUSED to come back out to sign. Now, I totally get that there was a misunderstanding and she was probably ready to head back to her hotel, but come on, really?! You are only in Houston to sign books, you sign for less than 45 minutes, people are CRYING because they didn't get to see you... and you won't come out. Now don't get me wrong, I like Kate and her clan just as much as the next SAHM, but I was sad for these people who were completely distraught over not seeing Kate.

Jason was (as a typical male) cracking up and wondering why people were so upset about not seeing someone who is "just on some TLC show". He didn't understand, I didn't try to explain!

What's Ben Been Up To?

I feel like I have a totally different child than I did a few months ago. Over the past couple weeks, Ben has started to get into EVERYTHING! He's crawling all over the house quicker than you can blink. He loves to get in Jake's dog bed, crawl through our end tables, pull up on virtually everything, "help" with the laundry, empty out anything that contains multiple objects, make HUGE messes when he's in the bathtub, stand up in the bathtub, play with doors, play with electrical cords and so-on and so-on. I know these are things children have been doing for ages, but it sure it hard to keep up!!

This was on New Year's Day, since he was sick he wore his 2009 "attire" here at home!

I've been trying to get a new background for our blog for almost a week now and my favorite site has been down. Hopefully they will be back up soon. Until then, we're going to be super plain with a white background!!!

Extremely Deliquent 9 Month Photos

So I took Ben's 9 Month photos very late and I'm posting them very late (since he's now 10 months old)... as you can see... it's getting much more challenging to take them with my overly calculated paper in the picture.

OH, and his hair is wildly out-of-control! I have total strangers comment on it pretty much everywhere we go. I have tried gel, hair spray, water, combs, brushes... you name it, I've tried it... and this is what it looks like after about 2 seconds... so I figure it just adds character, so I leave it (most of the time).

I've Been a Bad Blogger!

I'm so sorry. I've been a terrible blogger friend. I'm not sure what's happened to me lately, I had lost my will to blog, but I think I have finally recovered!!!

After Mr. Benjamin was sick, Jason and I were struck with an adult version of his sickness. However, we are finally on the other side of being sick and finally getting a start to 2009!
